Selena Gomez proved to Instagram that she can 100% handle herself and anyone who comments on her body. In January 2023, the singer showed off a fuller figure at the Golden Globe Awards, stunning the red carpet in a glam strapless dress but nonetheless sparking a wave of body-shaming remarks.
Taking to social media after the event, Selena directly addressed her weight, something she’s since made 2024 headlines for doing on a larger scale. The “Wolves” singer, who suffers from the autoimmune condition Lupus, this year confirmed that the medication she takes to manage her condition can make her weight bounce around.

Opting for regal elegance as she modeled a floor-length gown in black velvet, Selena stunned as she braved a deep neckline highlighting her curves.
Choosing classic Italian designer Valentino for her strapless number, the Rare Beauty founder accentuated her chest via a chic chest cut-out, going flowing in her column number, but with a mid-length slit flashing her legs. Adding pops of purple from unusual billowing sleeve details, Selena turned heads in her look, one she completed with a pair of strappy black heels.
Keeping glam with drop earrings and diamond rings, Selena wore her hair swept up, showing off a rosy glow from an immaculate face of makeup as she posed for arrival ops.
Admitting She Got ‘A Little Big’
Not long after the soiree, Selena took to Instagram with her little sister. Appearing to address any shamers, the Only Murder in the Building actress said:
“I’m a little bit big right now because I enjoyed myself during the holidays. I mean, right?”
In early 2024, Selena put more focus on her size as she bravely shared images taken one decade apart. Showing herself in a bathing suit ten years ago while also sharing a shot of herself during her Mexico 2023 travels, the Texan addressed being heavier, saying: “Today, I realized I will never look like this again.”
The ex to Justin Bieber continued: “I’m not perfect but I am proud to be who I am … sometimes I forget it’s OK to be me.” Gomez has separately confirmed that whether or not she takes her Lupus medication can influence how much water weight she holds.
Fans have so far proven overwhelmingly supportive of Selena, who has carried her new, curvier era into 2024. The star also seems happier than ever as she continues her blossoming romance with 36-year-old boyfriend Benny Blanco.
With 425 million Instagram followers, Selena is now the most-followed woman on the platform.
