Machine Gun Kelly is a well-known musician out of Cleveland, Ohio. MGK has been selling out stadiums for quite some time now. He is also dating famous actress and model Megan Fox. However, despite all of those positives, the artist has struggled with substance abuse as well as mental health issues for years now. There is a bright side, though. Kelly has been sober for an entire year after a secret rehab visit.
According to US Weekly, Machine Gun Kelly has not touched alcohol for a whole year now. Kelly opened up about his rehab journey on the Dumb Blonde podcast. It was there where he recalled that “This Journey Is Gonna Be Hard for Me.”
Machine Gun Kelly on His Life After Rehab
“I’m completely sober from everything. I don’t drink anymore,” Kelly, 34, revealed. “I didn’t tell anybody outside of the [people] closest to me,” he said. “That was my first time I ever went to rehab. They just gave me so many ways to operate the body and show where this anger is coming from and methods to quell it.” He continued by saying, “I met with a lot of psychiatrists, some who gave up on me and many therapists who did the same.”
Despite the uphill battle MGK stayed on the right path and made peace with the constant tightrope walk that is sobriety. Since then, Kelly has seemingly made huge strides in the right direction. His new song. Lonely Road, with Jelly Roll, has also been doing numbers.
Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly also seem to be doing much better. The couple have had plenty of relationship problems. However, after some therapy sessions, things seem to return to normal.
Machine Gun Kelly still has a long way to go on his sobriety journey. However, one year free from alcohol is worth celebrating for the artist. Hopefully, MGK will stay on the correct path as the years pass.
