Assassin’s Creedย is back. Well, with the release of the movie lastย December, some could argue it never really left. As far as getting a brand new gameย in the franchise, though, fans have been waiting over a year. That’s a long time in theย Assassin’s Creedย world, consideringย there has been a newย game every year for the lastย decade (The franchise will be celebrating 10 years this November). There have been rumors about a new game on the horizon, and now Ubisoft has given fans the confirmation we’ve been looking for that a new game is on the way.

Assassin's Creed

Ubisoft UK shared a GIF on Twitter with the words: “A New Era Begins”. In true, dramatic fashion, the famous Assassin’s Creed logo fades in over the words to fuel the anticipation. Following that tweet, Ubisoft sent an email blast informing fans to “stay tuned for E3” for more information about the upcoming title. Now, you can do as Ubisoft kindly asked and wait a few more weeks for E3,ย or you can keep reading this article.

The new game is entitledย Assassin’s Creed: Originsย and leaked information hints that the game will be set in Ancient Egypt.ย Naval combat will also make its return, and other leaked info reports the open-world will be even more seamless than we have seen in the previous installments. For gameplay and open-world to be as seamless as Ubisoft is describing, though, playersย may be saying goodbye to the Leap of Faith.

Assassin's Creed

Long-time fans will know this has been a staple of the Assassin’s Creedย gamesย since the first one released in 2007 and is a feature that’s necessary to unlock various parts of the map. In Origins,ย apparently, an eagle will scout the area for you and unlock the areas as needed.ย If the rumors are to believed, that is a big leapย (see what I did there?) for the franchise in truly creating an authentic, open-world experience that isn’t cluttered with buildings. Another change reportedly on the horizon is the hood on your fancy assassin cloaks. In Origins, the hood can now be worn up or down whenever you want. This makes sense considering there was an actual petition with over 2,000 supporters on change.orgย to have the option afterย Syndicateย released. Never underestimate the dedication ofย Assassin’s Creedย fans.

We will hear even more information about Assassin’s Creed: Originsย atย Ubisoft’s E3 showcase on June 12 at 1 pm PT. The showcase may also bring news about the recently-announcedย Far Cry 5ย andย The Crew 2.ย
