Miley Cyrus’ status as a Disney Legend isn’t making everyone happy. Over the weekend, the songstress’ legacy as a former child star was honored. Cyrus was inducted as a Disney Legend during the star-studded prestigious D23 event. She is the youngest person ever to achieve such a milestone. However, while it was beautiful to watch, some fans believed another former child star deserved the recognition even more.
At just 13 years old, Cyrus stole our hearts in Hannah Montana. She played the role of Miley Stewart, a teenage girl who lived a double life as a pop star. Her exceptional performance propelled the teen sitcom to fame. In addition to lasting four seasons, Hannah Montana had a feature film and a notoriously famous concert — Best of Both Worlds.
With Hannah Montana being one of Disney’s most commercially successful franchises, it is no surprise Cyrus was honored. However, some fans felt Raven-Symoné should have gotten the recognition instead. Raven, like Cyrus, has a roster of famous Disney sitcoms that propelled the channel to fame. Her credits include That’s So Raven, Cheetah Girls, Kim Possible, and Tinkerbell, amongst others. With such an impressive resume, why hasn’t Raven-Symoné been inducted?
‘Raven-Symone Better Be Next’ After Miley Cyrus, Fans Warn
Fans echoed such questions online, directing their disappointment towards Disney. One fan wondered, “So proud of Miley, she definitely deserves it, but why hasn’t Raven Symone been inducted? She quite literally ran Disney.” Another comment read, “Raven Symone should have had this first, tbh.” In response to a tweet praising Cyrus’ achievement, an Internet user stated:
“EARNED. now, Raven Symone, Hilary Duff and Selena Gomez better be next.”
A fourth comment read, “I feel very passionately that this award that I’ve never heard of until this very moment should’ve gone to Raven Symone.” This fan explained, “We can be happy for Miley becoming a #DisneyLegend while still acknowledging Raven-Symoné being worthy of the award as well.” Raven hasn’t commented on the situation, but her fans are already doing a lot of the talking.
