Every time you face enemies, knowing how to deflect, dodge, or avoid attacks is essential, but in Souls games, taking as little damage as possible is critical to your ongoing survival. Black Myth: Wukong is no different in the sense that players must know how to respond to each enemy’s mechanics, such as with a parry. In your ascent to becoming the legendary Sun Wukong, you’ll need to use all your skills and learn a Spell or two to stand up to the Gods themselves.
Can You Use Parry in Black Myth: Wukong?
In short, the answer is no; Black Myth: Wukong does not have a parry mechanic. However, our protagonist learns tricks to evade enemies, and the Rock Solid Spell will be your ally in many battles. This defensive Spell will turn your body into a very dense rock so that some enemies will end up stunned when attacking, and you will be able to use that brief moment to counterattack. It’s not that simple, though, because you must first defeat the Tiger Vanguard at the Crouching Tiger Temple from Chapter 2 before learning how to become one with the rocks.
Once you defeat the Tiger, you will automatically receive the Spell. Remember that to set any new skill, you must visit a Keeper’s Shrine and select the Spell you want to equip in the Self-Advance option.
How to Parry Enemy Attacks with Rock Solid
Before parrying, you must know how the attacks of each specific enemy are; each one has a different timing, and this Spell is less effective against stronger or bigger enemies. Roughly speaking, when the enemy starts its attack animation, you should press the button on your Rock Solid Spell. You will know you did a perfect parry if sparks appear instead of receiving damage from the attack. It might take some time while you get used to how each enemy acts, but if you really want to master Rock Solid, consider spending Sparks on your Skill Tree for these upgrades:
- Rapid Return: Cancel Rock Solid.
- Rock Mastery: Reduces the cooldown.
- Nick of Time: Gain Focus when making a perfect parry.
- Upperhand: Increases Light Start Attack damage after a perfect parry.
- Ironclad: Damage Reduction after a parry.
- Bold Venture: Recover Mana after a perfect parry.
With parry and more Spells, you will learn how to perfect your combat style that surpasses the Gods, but you have to practice it with diligence and discipline.
