Sean Kingston‘s legal troubles keep mounting. The rapper and his mother, Janice Turner, are currently facing federal and state charges for fraud. However, Kingston’s past keeps catching up with him, kicking him while he is down.
Kingston was recently hit with a default judgment by a jewelry company named Dream Watch. The Beautiful Girls singer owes the company a debt of $912,000 after purchasing luxury watches from them. Per court documents, Dream Watch claimed that in 2022, the artist contacted them to purchase a Richard Mille Model RM 65.01 Automatic and a Patek Philippe Calibre. He asked to pay $534,000 for the Richard Mille watch and $378,000 for the Patek Philippe watch. After an agreement, a rep for the company flew to Los Angeles to deliver the products. In return, Kingston promised to send a wire payment after inspecting the watches. Unfortunately, Kingston’s payment never arrived, and he kept deceiving them that it would arrive.
“Kingston represented his initial wire attempt was rejected because it was flagged by his bank due to the large amount being wired overseas,” the suit read. “Thereafter, Kingston represented his account was frozen due to the initial wire attempt, amongst other excuses which persisted for over three months until Kingston stopped responding.”
Kingston even involved his mom in the fraudulent act, telling Dream Watch that Turner would send the payment. Per InTouch Weekly, a default judgment was filed against the singer after he didn’t show up in court.
Sean Kingston & Mom Flee Reporters During Court Appearance
The default judgment comes days after Kingston and Turner showed up in court for their arraignment. The mother-son duo is facing charges of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and wire fraud. Prosecutors accused the pair of a fraudulent scheme to swindle businesses out of valuables worth almost $1 million. Kingston and Turner pleaded not guilty to their charges and requested a jury trial for the case.
Following the standard court proceeding, the pair exited the court, and that was when drama ensued. When a reporter approached Kingston, he dramatically raced toward a black Cadillac Escalade, hiding his face from the camera. His mother, on the other hand, flipped the camera before entering her Mercedes-Maybach S-Class sedan. The unusual incident made waves on the internet, causing reactions from fans.
