Lady Gaga has made a shocking admission about the early years of her career. The pop star and actress recently sat down with Vogue magazine to discuss her new music plans and her upcoming film Joker: Folie a Deux, which co-stars Joaquin Phoenix.
The ordinarily private singer didn’t hold anything back and has taken many fans by surprise by revealing that she used to lie during interviews.
There was a time in my career when I…Look…where I spoke in an accent in interviews or told lies but I was performing. Now, It’s a much more palatable mixture of authenticity and imagination. I feel like the world, to a fault, operates in these binaries: You’re either real or you’re fake; you’re authentic or you’re shallow. But for me, I played a lot with artifice. I was fascinated with artifice, really, truly fascinated with it as an artistic tool.
The candid reveal was not the only important topic the Bad Romance singer touched on. In it, she mentioned that her fiance, Michael Polansky, had encouraged her to make new music. “Michael is the person who told me to make a new pop record. He was like, ‘Babe, I love you. You need to make pop music again.“
According to Vogue magazine, Lady Gaga’s new album titled LG7 will be released in February 2025. Her film Joker: Folie a Deux will be released in theaters nationwide on October 4, 2024.
