As of September 4th, the second season of “Tell Me Lies” is finally live, and our favorite “Lucifer” actor, Tom Ellis, is the star of the show. While fans absolutely love him and his acting, it seems they’re just a bit too hung up on seeing him as Luci, and it may impact his current and future roles.
While loads of Instagram users shared praise for Tom‘s new role, there were some who were less than pleased that the 45-year-old actor has been putting time into a new role rather than continuing in “Lucifer.” We all know that Ellis was an amazing Lucifer, but it might be time for him to move on, and some are having a hard time accepting that.
Fans Don’t Want To Accept Tom Ellis As Anyone Other Than Lucifer
Tom Ellis is an exceptional actor, but it doesn’t mean all his roles will get the praise they deserve. While some users are excited, other are far less than pleased. “We want Lucifer bro,” says one Instagram user who hasn’t jumped on the TML praise-fest.
The comment section under Tom’s most recent Instagram post revealing the latest episode of “Tell Me Lies” is flooded with “Lucifer” fans begging for a seventh season of the show that put Tom in the spotlight. “Nice role, but you will always be Luci for me at least,” says one Instagram user. Another follows with “We need Lucifer season 7.” Even more comments roll in demanding a seventh season with Tom as Luci, “We need to do a protest to get a Lucifer season 7.”
Fans Fight Back About Professor Oliver Role Hate
Regardless of the backlash, there are also quite a few fans fighting back and trying to make it known that Tom Ellis is still, well, Tom Ellis. They comment about how he’s great as Lucifer, but now that he’s moved on to a new show, he needs their support just as much. “Fabulous 👌 too many of your fans need to stop constantly banging on about lucifer..yes it was brilliant but you’ve moved on and need our support.”
It’s no surprise that fans can’t get over seeing Ellis in a new role. He played Lucifer for quite a few years, and it’s been his biggest role since 2016. He played a hilarious, yet complex fallen angel and provided loads of comic relief. Though, his new role as Professor Oliver has quite a different effect, leading to comments about how well he plays a “hot” professor.
“You are the perfect ‘hot professor’, Tom ❤️❤️😍🔥,” one Instagram user drops in the comments. Another follows up with “Tom is the definition of fine ☺️☺️☺️omg this man 😊😊🙂.”
