Tia and Tamera Mowry are doing just fine. Fans began worrying about the twins’ relationship after a clip from Tia’s new reality show went viral. In the scene, she detailed the challenges of her divorce. But that’s not all. She also hinted that she wasn’t as close with her sister, Tamera.
“Being alone has been the most challenging part of my divorce,” she said. “It’s times like this when I feel and wish that my sister and I were still close and I could pick up the phone and call her, but that’s just not where we are right now.”
Since then, there’s been much speculation about the status of their relationship. One user wrote that they were “sad” to hear the two weren’t as close. “I really liked their dynamic.”
Well, things might not be as bad as everybody thought. In a recent interview with Us Weekly, Tia Mowry boasts about her relationship with Tamera, saying the pair are especially close.
There’s ‘Love’ Between Sisters
During her chat, Tia Mowry said she was referring to the physical distance with her sister—not their relationship.
“You could hear it from me, and this is basically what I was insinuating: I feel like as we grow up, we all start our own families and their children need to lean on them. We begin to take on new roles and responsibilities within our lives.”
Although they both live in California, Tia lives in Los Angeles, while Tamera and her husband, Adam Housley, live in Napa Valley.
“In these transitions in life, sometimes you just want a hug, and you just want someone to be as accessible as they used to be, and that is not the case,” Tia said. “It’s called life.”
Later in the interview, Tia made it clear that she and her sister would always be on good terms.
“I love my sister very much. She loves me very much,” she said. “We have a closeness and a beautiful connection. But that’s what that was all about. It’s just how life unfolds, and it happens with many families.”
Tia Wasn’t Surprised That Comments Were Taken Out of Context
As for Tia Mowry’s comments on her new show, My Next Act, the Sister, Sister actress said it wasn’t “surprising” they caused so much drama.
“When you’ve been in this industry for over 30 years, things are always taken out of context and it is what it is. The only thing that I can do is control my behaviors and be the best person that I could possibly be, and that’s what both of us are. We are incredible, inspiring examples, and we have been that all our lives. So, why change that now?”
Tia’s new show will air in October 2024. The description says the series will follow the star’s “fearless & fierce journey of self-discovery post-divorce.”
