Speedrunning a game backward. Well, stranger things have happened. You won’t find this Ori and the Blind Forest category listed on speed running websites because it’s an AGDQ (Awesome Games Done Quick) thing where the runner completes the areas in reverse order. They call it an OREO run, which stands for Ori reverse event order.

Naturally, this footage contains spoilers, and Ori and the Blind Forest is a magnificent story-rich game that’s best experienced by playing before watching something like a speedrun. Proceed only if you’ve finished the game or just don’t really care about spoilers.

AGDQ 2017 - Ori and the blind forest: OREO-run

This is from AGDQ 2017, which happened this January. Sigma tackles the challenge in 55 minutes, 35 seconds. Since he has to experience everything backward, some cheating is required. Exploits such as key farming through death, teleport control, and even changing gravity direction are used, and all the tricks are explained as they’re shown. Oh, and they brought actual oreo cookies to snack on while Sigma breaks the ever-loving bejeezus out of Ori and the Blind Forest. It all adds up to a run you won’t be able to take your eyes off of – and won’t want to – for all the amazing tricks pulled off during the play.

Ori and the Blind Forest was developed by Moon Studios and released on the Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Windows platforms on March 11, 2015, and of course it’s available for download on Steam. G0 ahead and add the game to your library, it’s more than worth it. Just be warned: it’ll hit you right in the feels.

Want something more mainstream? Here’s a run of Mega Man X Collection, which contains the first six numbered games in the X series. And, of course, leave a comment and let us know what game you want to see next. Look forward to some odd ones coming up real soon.
