To those who are fans of the show Rick and Morty, you’re in for a little treat. The critically acclaimed Indie title, Firewatch, which was released in February of last year, is a game with a rich story and beautiful setting. The game’s writer, Sean Vanaman, will be writing a one-shot comic (issue #29 of the series) based on Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland’s Adult Swim series. Olly Moss will do the alternate cover art.

Sean Vanaman is the co-founder of the studio behind Firewatch, Campo Santo. He was previously the co-project lead and lead writer for Telltale Games’ The Walking Dead: Season One. Vanaman has experience when it comes to video games, but writing comics is something completely different. From Firewatch, it seems like he’s an excellent writer, so let’s see if that translates over to comic books in this Rick and Morty adventure.

Olly Moss is the art director for Campo Santo, but he also has experience redesigning movie posters for franchises such as Harry Potter and Star Wars. Although the alternate cover will be done by Moss, the interior and original cover art will be done by CJ Cannon and colorist Katy Farina. Check out the covers at the end of this article!

Rick and Morty #29 is said to be about Rick inventing a device that allows him to see any person’s potential to be a fascist dictator. So far, the issue already sounds like something Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland would come up with; so kudos to Vanaman for maintaining that theme of absurd craziness while writing the issue.

While this issue of the comic book series will be released on August 23, 2017, the show returns to Adult Swim July 30 after a Game of Thrones like wait. There is still no confirmation as to whether the show will premiere with the first episode or start with the second episode, considering most fans of the series watched the first episode when it was live streamed those many weeks ago.

Most of the time he spends writing, reading (anything from comics to classic literature), playing video games, and wondering when the next Elder Scrolls title will be released. Hopefully soon...
