Ben Affleck is currently going through a very public divorce with his second wife, Jennifer Lopez. The Batman actor and the singer filed to end their marriage back in August. Now, Ben and JLo are both moving on. While Lopez has been romantically linked to rapper Drake, Affleck is said to be looking for a new love interest of his own. The Argo director reportedly wants to date again. However, he’s being more cautious this time around.
The Daily Mail reports that Ben Affleck is thinking about his future. Following his split from Jennifer Lopez, he allegedly wants to find love again. However, he has a strict rule for any new woman that may come into his life. He’s ready for a completely sober partner and wants to make no exceptions.
“Ben has not given up on relationships and finally feels ready to move forward and start dating again,’ an insider tells the outlet. “He is not going to jump into anything serious until the divorce is finalized, but that does not mean he cannot date.”
“He only wants to date someone who is sober or in recovery. These past two years have been tough for Ben and as he begins to heal, one thing is very clear: his recovery comes before anything. He is not going to put his sobriety in jeopardy,” the source continued.
Ben Affleck Ready To Start Dating Again
Previously, Affleck went to rehab for alcohol abuse. He’s been open about his sobriety since that time. However, he’s ready to get even more serious about his sober lifestyle after rumors that he was feared to relapse amid the JLo drama surfaced.
“Ben tries to avoid reading the news but it did upset him that people thought he relapsed because he had not. Like every alcoholic, Ben just wakes up with one goal in mind. To stay sober for that day,” says in the informant.
Meanwhile, while some fans praised Affleck for wanting to surround himself with sober people, others are convinced that a new relationship isn’t the best idea for him at this time.
“JLo famously doesn’t drink. Jennifer Garner barely drinks. Ben is the problem. No woman is going to solve the issues he has with himself,” one person commented.
“The dude is delusional and in denial about his own problems. He’ll shine it on for the next one too until he can’t keep up the facade any longer,” said another.
“A time of celibacy would do the man some good. Seriously. Hold off on dates until after the divorce comes through and use the time for genuine reflection on how to forge healthier relationships,” a third person suggested.
