N7 Day, which rightfully takes place on November 7th of each year, is Mass Effect‘s holiday and where fans often expect big announcements for the franchise. Mass Effect 5 is the next expectation, now that The Veilguard has concluded Dragon Age. However, BioWare wants you to focus on Dragon Age for now, because it appears it has nothing exciting in store for Mass Effect this upcoming N7 Day.
The statement and lots of other implications came from a tweet from BioWare’s official X/Twitter account.
It’s like they’re already expecting your expectations and would like for you to tone it down. Granted, 2024 has only two months left so ‘this year’ doesn’t exactly have a significant timetable left for announcements. Still, some fans are worried about Mass Effect‘s future.
After all, some of them expected that BioWare would quell the recent Dragon Age: The Veilguard controversy with some glowing and reassuring reveals for Mass Effect (its sci-fi counterpart). Dragon Age: The Veilguard notably drew criticism due to how it abruptly shifted away from the series’ dark fantasy roots.
Even BioWare’s Executive Producer, Michael Gamble had to chime in and reassure fans that Mass Effect will remain mature and dark. Sadly, fan anxiety has been renewed following BioWare’s N7 announcement.
Mass Effect 5 is Coming Along
The only development news about Mass Effect 5 at the moment is that it’s under development. It also has some of the series veterans working on it, thankfully. Moreover, BioWare also recently announced that Dragon Age: The Veilguard is done. The Dragon Age sequel won’t be getting any DLCs so that their teams can focus on Mass Effect.
It’s worth noting that 2023’s N7 Day had new information about Mass Effect and even included a 34-second teaser trailer for Mass Effect 5.
To be fair, that’s quite hard to top, and BioWare would have to reveal considerably more for 2024’s N7 Day. Too bad they won’t. Not this year.
