Sunny Hostin worries about the country’s fate with Donald Trump. The View panelist shared her take on the politician’s return to the White House, implying that only trouble awaits. A clip of her discussion with fellow panelists recently aired on YouTube, capturing Hostin’s arguments about Trump’s administration.
She wondered why voters decided to reinstate him, noting they should know what to expect after his first term. The TV personality stressed that she was not worried about herself or her station in life. Instead, her concerns lay with the working class, the elderly, their social security, and their Medicare. She was also worried about her children’s future, especially her daughter’s.
Hostin reflected on being the first person in her family to enjoy full civil rights. However, she claimed she and her daughter had less rights today thanks to Trump’s return to power. She stressed that she was “profoundly disturbed” that the law did not stop a convict from becoming president, adding:
“I think that going forward, the convicted felon box on employment applications better be taken off. Because if you can be the President of the United States, you should not be prevented from employment in this country.”
Hostin’s arguments did not end there. She reported that economists have predicted Trump would increase the country’s debt by trillions of dollars. She echoed similar sentiments about his impact on deportation, noting he could enact internment camps. “I’m also worried about Elon Musk warning Americans to prepare for ‘temporary hardship,'” Hostin added.
Although she was shocked by Trump’s win, as a woman of color, she wasn’t surprised by the result. She claimed Trump’s return to office has nothing to do with policy. Instead, it was a “referendum of cultural resentment in this country.” Social media users did not support her arguments and slammed The View panelists in the comments.
Fans Rally Against Sunny Hostin’s Take On Donald Trump’s Victory
The comment section did not love the all-female panelists, with many making jokes at their expense. Someone slammed Hostin for saying she was worried about the working class while knowing they suffered under Biden’s administration. Another highlighted the panelists’ previous claim of moving to another country if Trump won. “What time are your flights?” the cheeky commenter penned.
A third sarcastically thanked them for influencing the politician’s win with their TV show. A YouTube user described the show’s panelists as a “table of incredibly rich women pretending to be oppressed.” A critic echoed similar sentiments, noting their insights were unnecessary as Trump won the popular vote.
The Republican won the 2024 election with over 290 electoral votes. He snagged victories in key areas like North Carolina, Georgia, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. However, Trump’s status remains the president-elect until he is sworn in at the presidential inauguration. Trump’s return to office will be commemorated on Monday, 20 January 2025. He will legally assume the power and responsibilities of the presidency at the time. Even though his post is not official, congratulations have been pouring in from other world leaders.
While others celebrate Donald Trump’s victory, it is clear Sunny Hostin and The View won’t be honoring him.
