The concluding part of 2024 is turning out to be the start of new beginnings for Britney Spears. She recently made waves for reuniting with her son, and now her child support era is nearly over. According to new reports, the Princess of Pop will close the years-long chapter of paying child support this month. Spears welcomed two sons — Sean Preston and Jayden James — with her ex-husband Kevin Federline.
The former couple initially agreed to Spears coughing up $20,000 monthly in child support. However, the bill was increased to $40,000 because the boys primarily lived with their father. Spears and Kevin agreed to drop the fees to $20,000 after their first son, Sean Preston, turned 18. But they clashed over the child support bill earlier this year as their youngest son neared his 18th birthday.
Following back-and-forth arguments from their attorneys, Spears and Kevin agreed she would stop paying the bill in November. The date aligned with their second son Jayden’s exit from High School. The Gimme More singer reportedly paid $10,000 from the $20,000 child support agreement earlier this month. She is expected to wire the remaining payment on Friday, November 15, as her final transaction, per TMZ.
The conclusion of her child support chapter must be fantastic news for Spears, who recently reunited with Jayden. We covered that the mother and son had been spending quality time together following his return to California. It was unclear if Jayden lived with Spears at her $7.4 million mansion in Thousand Oaks. However, his brother reportedly remained in Hawaii. The siblings moved to the state after their father’s new wife got a job offer.
Britney Spears Is ‘Thrilled’ To Be Reunited With One of Her Sons
Although only her youngest returned home, a source claimed Spears was overjoyed to be reconnected with Jayden. They noted the reunion between the mother and son was a step forward, saying, “Britney is thrilled to have her baby back. Everything is moving in the right direction.” Spears’ physical reconciliation with Jayden comes six months after he and Sean took the first step towards a reunion.
The brothers honored the singer with a call on Mother’s Day, a gesture their father’s lawyer applauded. Attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan described Jayden and Sean’s move as a “good sign.” He noted reconciling would take time, but Kevin fully supported his sons reuniting with Spears. Kevin and the boys moved to Hawaii in August 2023, a decision Spears approved despite their differences. She and her sons had allegedly not been on speaking terms with her sons for over a year. One of the reasons behind their strained relationship was her Instagram page.
Jayden revealed in a 2022 interview that he and Sean disapproved of Spears’ nude pictures. He believed she dropped provocative posts for attention. Despite his dislike for her wild side, Jayden stressed that he wished to reconcile with his mother. “I just want her to get better mentally. When she gets better, I really want to see her again,” he claimed.
With the end of her child support chapter, can Britney Spears experience a new relationship with her adult sons?
