I personally believe that no matter what is going on, there isn’t a single situation that warrants being aggressively rude to restaurant workers. This isn’t because of how they’re treated at these kinds of jobs or the pay they receive, but because they’re human beings just like you and me. Unfortunately, such a situation happened at a matcha shop that resulted in incredibly aggressive behavior from the customer. The entirety of it was recorded and then posted to Reddit.
The video begins shortly after the debacle has already happened, with paper straws littering the floor and other guests pushed up against the farthest wall to avoid getting hurt. It’s unclear exactly what upset the customer, but it must have really fired him up. As his wife or girlfriend tries to calm him down, he decides to make things worse for himself by assaulting one of the workers and throwing a cup at him.
The worker immediately retaliates by picking up a napkin dispenser and giving the impression that he would throw it. This finally convinced the couple to leave the store, while the other customers who witnessed the situation snickered to themselves. The replies are filled with commenters ridiculing the man’s decisions, especially those who live in the area and frequent both the matcha shop and the restaurants around it.
“That was the WEAKEST “worldstar” I’ve ever heard.”
As a result, the location of the shop was quickly identified as being in Japantown, San Francisco. It appears that tons of people are actually rather fond of it.
“Yes, my spouse and I get ramen 50 feet away at Suzus , best ramen in the area! I love this matcha shop! sometimes they have ube you can add. poor employees 😞 .”
Hopefully, none of the employees were seriously hurt and the man was apprehended after the video went viral. The only thing I wish was that someone had intervened before he threw the cup at the employee.
