While I admit that there are plenty of things you should never do in front of a police officer, I would never think that flipping was one of them. No, not flipping them off; flipping. Like jumping in the air and spinning your body upside down. A man who was minding his own business, doing parkour at a beach, was brutally beaten and arrested by police officers just because he flipped over them. Fortunately, the entirety of the event was recorded and posted to Reddit for everyone to give their opinion on.
The video depicts two officers sitting on a bench, relaxing at what appears to be a public park or beach. Suddenly, a man approaches from behind the officers, steps onto the bench, and flips over them. Instead of being impressed, the officers threaten the man with arrest if he attempts to do that again. Suddenly, one of the officers notices that the interaction is being filmed and decides to take back the threat, opting to arrest him instead.
Things quickly get violent as one officers tries to forcefully grab the flipping man. Unfortunately, the two officers were able to overcome the man, taking him down and putting him in handcuffs. Then, one of the officers goes over to the camera and turns it off, probably believing that it would delete the video. Commenters were quick to question what the man even did, since no one was injured and no illegal action was committed, with one commenter, stating:
“I wonder what the charge was.”
Hopefully, the man who was arrested was not severely injured, especially since one of the officers had threatened to break his neck before the arrest actually happened. Many other comments simply discuss if the officers’ actions were justified and what possible charges could have possibly be tacked on. It’s a good thing that almost everyone agrees that what the cops did was inexcusable.
