Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Teaser Already Featured in Black Ops 6 Prestige System

Clever Treyarch, clever

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Season 1 has hit the community with a blast of content, including a dense Battle Pass and the huge Warzone integration that has turned my Warzone-only teammates into noobies now. However, there’s more about the Season 1 update, as leakers have found a brand new Black Ops 7 teaser operator named Samuels that had first in Black Ops 2‘s 2025 timeline.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 featured a mission called “Cordis Die,” in which Raul Menendez invades Los Angeles with troops and hacked drones. We play as David “Section” Mason in this mission, protecting Madame President Moriom Bosworth from the incoming danger. The one Secret Service soldier fighting by your side in this operation is a guy named Samuels, someone who’s just popped out of nowhere in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6!

Now, if it were an ordinary operator bundle with no narrative logic or explanation behind it, we wouldn’t have a red circle around it. We saw Ivan return from the dead in MW3, and Rhea Ripley fought by our side in Warzone, right? In the case of Samuels, however, he’s got a full, in-depth character description already out, and oh, if it’s a fascinating one to read.

Eric Samuels was part of President Bosworth’s Secret Service detail and was responsible for safely transporting her through Los Angeles during Menendez’s drone attack in 2025 – a battle in which Samuels fought alongside, and earned the trust of, experienced CIA agents like David Mason and Mile Harper.

Old school and tough as nails, Samuels’ peers look to him for leadership and strength in times of crisis. His ability to spot threats well before they materialize coupled with his cool head in a firefight, make him the ideal Secret Service operative. It is rumored that Samuels has turned down multiple CIA recruitment offers, preferring his role as a protector of the country’s most important leaders.

As you can see in the character’s description, Eric Samuels is the same Secret Service guard who fought alongside David Mason and Mike Harper. But hold on a minute; is Harper alive? This is one huge reveal of the future of Black Ops 2 canon.

In the mission Cordis Die, if Harper is killed by Farid due to the players’ choice in a previous operation, Samuels plays a larger role and speaks the same dialogue that Harper was supposed to say in that section of the story. Now, we see in his Black Ops 6 bio that he has fought alongside Mike Harper and Mason, so it’s safe to assume that Harper is alive.

Now, all of this points toward what Treyarch Studios developers had announced in Black Ops 6 Cod Pod episode 3. There actually is a canon ending for the Black Ops 2 future story, and Mike Harper being alive in BO7 could be the one they’re going with, assuming Samuels’ bio is 100% legit. It’s likely that this Black Ops 7 teaser was supposed to be released months later when players reach Prestige Master and unlock Eric Samuels in Black Ops 6.

Speaking of which, Call of Duty 2025, being another Black Ops sequel set in the year 2035, was a leak released long ago before the release of Black Ops 6 itself. It’s been rumored that the protagonist of next year’s CoD title is David Mason, and now we have a clue that Mike Harper and Samuels could be joining him as returning Black Ops 2 characters.

Amir is an absolute Call of Duty nerd, preferring shooter games more than everything. However, he does like to do uppercuts in Mortal Kombat and feel the NOS going through the engines in Need For Speed games.
