Jay Leno has been seen with another body injury. The comedian arrived wearing an eye patch at Monday’s Comedy For Koby event in Beverly Hills. In the space of just two years, Leno has been involved in two near-fatal accidents, and his current disturbing appearance has fans wondering what went wrong again.
Although he seemed in great spirits, the renowned television host had a black eye underneath the covering. The left side of his face featured a massive bruise, and he had a bandaged wrist. Speaking to the paparazzi outside the event, Leno revealed he took a tumble down a “60 to 70 feet” hill. Leno, who assured he was “holding up fine,” revealed that he was heading to a restaurant at the bottom of the hill from his hotel, which was at the top when the fall occurred. Leno said he ignored taking the designated path because he didn’t think the hill looked steep. Unfortunately, he was wrong about his estimation. “I fell down and rolled down the hill,” the comedian detailed to TMZ. “Hit my head on a rock, knocked me on the eye.”
The 74-year-old added that he lost a nail on his finger and broke his wrist in the process. However, the injuries weren’t enough to slow Leno down. Rather than seeking medical help immediately, he chose to attend his weekend performance at the Yaamava Casino in California. Upon his return to Los Angeles, he then visited the hospital. “It was only a couple of hours of the show, so. It’s not that big of a deal. It’s fine,” Leno declared while sharing a laugh with the interviewer.
Fans Worry About Jay Leno’s Mental Health, Urge Him To ‘Slow Down’
Although the former The Tonight Show host insists all is well, fans online expressed doubt. Many expressed concerns about Leno’s wellbeing, wondering if his recent string of accidents speak to something deeper.
“Why is he always getting injured? Must be dementia or something. It’s no freak accident,” one fan wrote.
“Dude has negative luck. Wasn’t he blown up last year or some shit?” another wondered.
“Jay, slow down and take up painting or fly fishing,” a third fan advised.
“I am calling for a complete shutdown of Jay Leno’s schedule until we can figure out what the hell is going on,” a fourth comment read.
It comes as no surprise that fans are deeply worried about Leno. Recall in January 2023, the Jay Leno’s Garage host suffered multiple broken bones after being knocked off his motorcycle. He broke his collarbone and ribs and cracked his kneecaps. Just two months prior, Leno suffered third-degree burns on his face and hands after a freak fire incident. One of the vehicles in the avid car collector’s garage suddenly burst into flames. He had to undergo several surgeries and skin graft procedures, including getting a new ear.
Amid the mishaps, Leno filed for conservatorship over his wife, Mavis Leno, following her diagnosis with Alzheimer’s disease. His request has since been granted.
