The bizarre brawl has captured Reddit’s attention. Why does the loser get himself into a position to be knocked out?
The street fight begins with the guy in jeans taking a wild swing at his opponent, who is wearing little more than a t-shirt and shorts. As one commenter wryly observes: “Never fight someone who isn’t wearing shoes.”
Most of the fight consists of wildly missing kicks and weak slaps. A Redditor summed it up, saying, “I think the whole thing consisted of a couple of kicks and a handful of slaps.” Indeed, it’s hardly a spectacular fight.
All that suddenly changes, though, when jeans guy ducks down and reaches for his left ankle. The reason he does is so unclear, with some Redditors speculating that he’s going for a knife, which certainly would have taken the street fight in a darker direction. Others see the funny side, suggesting the jeans guy tried to pause the fight. “Time out, my shoe is untied,” one comment joked.
Whatever the reason for jeans guy’s ill-advised duck, the result is swift and devastating. Shorts guy finally makes good contact with one of his kicks, right in jeans guy’s face. Jeans goes down like a sack of potatoes, knocked out cold in the street.
As if that weren’t bad enough, shorts guy then nonchalantly gets on his bicycle and rides over his knocked-out opponent’s outstretched arm. One Redditor describes the move as “hilariously disrespectful”, while another amusingly calls it a “Mortal Kombat finishing move.” Fatality indeed. Maybe next time, jeans guy will think twice about taking a swing and starting a street fight.
At the end of the clip, a woman advances on jeans guy. We’d like to think she’s checking on him, but equally, she could be taking a photo to post on Instagram or helping herself to his valuables.
The clip is a reminder not to start what you can’t finish. Whether jeans guy was going for a blade or just lost concentration, it was a dumb move either way. When he wakes up, he’ll have a sore head and a sore wrist. Not to mention a hefty dose of embarrassment, we’d imagine.
