I’ve been putting a lot of time into Roblox Fisch lately. It’s been sucking me in with its quiet nature, tough but fair game mechanics, and chill quality. So much so that it’s most of what I play on Roblox, other than what my kids suck me into for a few hours. I play it while I’m on break and even in my free time. I’d even argue Fisch is one of the best experiences on Roblox, hands down.
Fisch is So Chill, I Can’t Help But Stick Around
If you’ve never been fishing before, it’s a rather relaxing experience, especially when you bring along some buddies. It’s just you, some good friends, and a day with nature. While Roblox Fisch pales in comparison to the real thing, it’s still quite relaxing.
What helps is that lately I’ve been on this kick with casual games and Fisch fits the bill nicely. You find a good spot, give your line a good toss, and you wait for a fish to bite. But right there is what makes it so enjoyable—the kinds of aquatic life you can catch.
Fisch doesn’t just stick to well-known fish like bass and trout, but the bizarre and rare, too. You might come across a goblin shark, giant squid, and even sea monsters. They might be glowing, golden, translucent, rainbow, or massive in size. It’s exciting to not only see the kind of fish I get, but whether or not they have special traits!
The Gameplay Mechanics Are Simple and Fair
I’m a big fan of games that have gameplay cohesion. To me, it’s a series of mechanics that all funnel back to the game’s main attraction. In this case, it’s to fish. Anything that doesn’t involve fishing is in service of its simple gameplay loop.
For Roblox Fisch, it’s enchanting, boats, bait, items, quests, and events. Even something like Basic Diving Gear, which lets you swim in the ocean longer, is ultimately used for accessing other areas to fish specific creatures. There’s a good deal of depth here—no pun intended!
When you are casting your line out, the mini-game itself is just challenging enough that you aren’t staring at the screen like a zombie, but not too hard as to be frustrating. You can’t cheat the system either, so you have no choice but to invest in better gear if you want to fill out your bestiary.
The Microtransactions Are Downplayed
This is a big one for me because I spend a good bit of time on Roblox and one of my biggest gripes with the platform are the microtransactions. They’re usually predatory, manipulative, and actively harm genuinely good experiences on Roblox.
While Fisch has microtransactions too, they’re out of the way. I’m not saying they’re okay—far from it, but I didn’t even know of any MTXs until my first 10 or so hours in. I found them by accident! Most of the microtransactions are cosmetic in nature and can be easily ignored.
The only one that has any real value, is the ability to sell your inventory anywhere rather than travel to a merchant. In my experience, the inventory is already so generous that it’s ultimately useless, too. Still, I don’t recall at any point during my playtime of the game telling me to check out the store.
