Fortnite and Call of Duty have been rivals since the game’s release in 2017. The two shooter games have been clashing to maintain high player numbers with new seasons and updates, but with Fortnite’s new movement system, this vendetta has gone to another level now with Call of Duty: Black Ops 6‘s Omnimovement. However, Treyarch Studios is probably going to mix its new BO6 fast-paced movement features with a taste of what Fortnite has brought forth in Chapter 6.

So one of the key advertisement points for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 was the Omnimovment, a new movement system in the game that allows players to run and slide in every direction should they desire to. This is a game-changing feature that speeds up the game and makes room for more intense gunfights by having more options to dodge the enemy’s aim.

A while after BO6‘s release, Fortnite also attached some new movement mechanics as well, allowing players to jump off the walls and do a bit of wall running to help the gameplay’s fluidity. To make things clear, no, Fortnite does not feature Omnimovement and you can’t just run and slide in every direction in a way that Black Ops 6 plays. It’s more of a wall jumping and rolling on landing.

Now both the Call of Duty‘s and Fortnite’s new movement system are nice, but the idea of wall running bound to Black Ops 6‘s Omnimovement has been there long before Fortnite’s Chapter 6 update. Accordingly, Call of Duty 2025 is set to add more features to the already chaotic Omnimovement system, allowing players to do wall runs and wall jumps like we did in Black Ops 3 and 4.

The leaks and even the in-game rewards for Black Ops 6 are all suggesting that Call of Duty 2025 is a follow-up story to Black Ops 2‘s future narrative, which makes it sometime beyond 2025. And if that’s the case and we’re closer to the Black Ops 4 timeline in terms of story, it would make sense for the game to feature more futuristic movement mechanics like wall runs. But about how good or bad the Treyarch team is going to pull this off is something that we need to wait for months to figure out.
