A startling clip is making waves on Reddit of a pair of cats viciously attacking a poor man changing their litter trays. As the man screams in pain and terror and apologizes to the cats, the merciless creatures continue their assault.
At first, you might be forgiven for thinking the clip is going to be one of those cute cat videos. It has all the hallmarks: two cats, a few cat trees, and a man going about his business, seemingly changing the cats’ litter trays. But, within seconds, it becomes clear that these are not happy kitties.
As the man bends down to take the lid off a litter tray, one of the cats pounces. It leaps at the hapless guy and bites him in the butt, of all places. The man rubs his injured backside, drops the litter tray, and puts his hands up. Truthfully, it’s a little amusing that he then tries apologizing to the cats. As one Redditor remarks, “What makes him think a cat’s gonna listen?”
Indeed, the cats do not listen. For whatever reason, they’ve taken an intense disliking to this poor dude. As he stands in the corner and tries to work out what to do, one of the cats attacks again. It leaps and bites at him with the astonishing agility and ferocity that cats have.
Screaming in terror, the man flees the room, sending the camera filming him tumbling to the floor. The clip ends with the guy panting in terror, probably pumped full of adrenaline. The calm after the storm.
The bizarre cat attack raises a few questions. For one, it’s unusual for cats to be so brazenly hostile. As one commenter put it, it seemed like the “cat just woke up and chose violence.” Perhaps the hapless guy was a cat sitter hired to look after the cats while their owner was on vacation. Regarding the cats, one Redditor speculated that, “Either they didn’t know that person or they somehow felt unfamiliar to them.”
Whatever the reason, it’s a reminder that cats can be very territorial, aggressive creatures. If they feel threatened, they can attack and do some major harm. Or, as one commenter puts it, “cats are notorious a*******.” That too.
