Pokemon Card Buyers Show Their Anti-Christmas Spirit at a Costco, ‘Those Are Some Big Children’

Gotta scalp ’em all

Whenever we look at things like South Park‘s Black Friday special, we think, “No, that can’t happen. It’s pure fiction.” Well, it isn’t. While holidays are usually a time that brings out the best in people, these days also bring out the worst in some individuals. Such is the case of a recent Reddit video that’s circulating, showing a bunch of scalpers destroying a poor Pokemon Card stand at a Costco store. As many of us inferred, people just want to purchase these TCG sets and resell them at a higher price later. And you know what? It’s pretty horrible.

In the above video shared by user westondeboer on the r/PublicFreakout Subreddit, a group of scalpers rush in to get as many Pokemon Cards as possible from a Costco. It isn’t uncommon to see things like this, especially during these dates. Most people just want to hoard some of the year’s rarest toys and then resell them, which reminds us of the Princess Unicorn situation from The Office. In any case, people found this conduct deplorable and certainly had some opinions to share on the matter.

Those are some big children.

Ironically, we don’t think children would behave like this. This is beyond disappointing and something that shouldn’t happen no matter where you are.

Since the main focus of the scalper raid was Pokemon Cards, many donned the good old Detective Pikachu hat to tell the community what the big fuss was about.

The red boxes contain Pokemon 151 packs, which were released last year and are currently extremely difficult to find. Not only this, but the reason they are highly sought after is because it is an ode to the original 151 pokemon from the 90s and the demand has skyrocketed due to the amount of people who grew up with it that are getting back into the hobby.

I’m all in for the nostalgia rush, but this isn’t how to express it. It’s even sadder when, by the end of the video, you can see how one of the customers gives one of the Pokemon Card boxes to another buyer who doesn’t seem like a scalper at all. At least someone was embracing the good Christmas spirit, so good for them. In any case, retail stores should be a bit more serious with their policies and enforce a “one item per family or person” type of thing. That would help curb incidents like this, right?
