We’ve all done it: gone the wrong way in a parking lot. Either cheekily on purpose or accidentally. But, if we get caught out by someone coming the right way, the sensible approach is to sheepishly admit your mistake and make way. Right? Well, not for this Karen. A clip going viral on Reddit shows a woman having a meltdown at another driver in a parking lot… for her mistake.
The video takes place in one of those multi-storey parking lots that can, admittedly, be a bit of a nightmare to navigate. It’s too easy to find yourself going the wrong way. In the clip, an obnoxious Karen is caught going the wrong way down a one-way section of the parking lot. Rather than admit her mistake and turn around, however, or apologetically move aside, the woman completely loses it. She yells at the guy calmly pointing our her mistake to “turn the f*** around!”
Most of the Karen’s foul-mouthed rant is hard to make out, but it seems like she thinks she’s in the right. When the guy clearly states it’s a “one way“, the woman still insists the guy “move around“, effectively ordering him to get out of her way.
Mid-way through the video, the Karen tries to make out she emerged from a parking space “literally right there.” Where “there” is, though, is unclear, and certainly bemuses the guy. He asks some others, presumably waiting to enter the parking lot, whether he’s in the wrong. They all agree he isn’t, but the Karen chooses to ignore the evidence staring her right in the face.
The rude Karen united Reddit in its condemnation. One user echoed our thoughts, pointing out that it’s, “Unreal how the ones in the wrong double down on the wrong.” As another pointed out, the woman’s ego probably doesn’t allow her to accept any wrongdoing. She genuinely seems convinced that she’s in the right. Another speculated that the Karen, “100% doesn’t know how to reverse so she’s panicking,” which may be the answer.
Whatever the explanation, it’s a reminder that you just cannot reason with some people. Even clearly laying out their wrongdoing cannot sway them. Rather than getting irate, however, some commenters sensed an opportunity:
“I’d use a PTO day for this. Schedule is miraculously free for the rest of the day. Not moving. Might service the brakes and check the oil.”
Now that sounds like an idea I can get behind. Mind you, I imagine the parking lot Karen would rather waste an entire day than acknowledge her mistake. She just gives off those vibes.
