Hero Saves Kid Dangling From Window in Heart-Stopping Rescue: ‘One Little Slip and He Would Have Been Dead’

“Bet they don’t open that window again until the kid is 32”

A heart-stopping video has appeared on Reddit of a brave man rescuing a child dangling from a window seven stories up. In an incredible feat of bravery, the hero rescuer climbs out of the window a level below, pulls the child off the window sill, and catches the kid in his arms. The hair-raising rescue could’ve easily gone so wrong, but thankfully it has a happy ending.

In the clip, a man climbs out of a window that opens outward six levels up. Above him, a kid dangles by his fingertips from another of the windows. As people support the window, ensuring it doesn’t close on the hero, he reaches up and catches the child in his arms. Then, he carefully slips him inside the building before doing the same.

The whole heart-stopping, high-level rescue took only around a minute, according to the footage. For the people involved, though, it must have felt like hours. The hero rescuer shows incredible bravery, and not just for the obvious act of clambering out of a window six levels up to save a kid in huge danger. Also, he had to place his absolute faith in those people inside to hold the window firm for him. If they’d faltered, then the result would’ve been horrific. As one Redditor summed it up: “One little slip and he would have been dead.”

Thankfully, both the man and the child appear to be relatively unharmed by the ordeal, at least physically. One can only imagine the psychological trauma the kid experienced, dangling from such a height. We also don’t know how long the child was in that precarious position before rescue.

The other aspect of the rescue that really beggars belief is the awful design of the windows. Opening outwards in a downward direction like that is clearly a gross design flaw. One commenter called them “suicide windows,” and that seems accurate. Some tried to take some wry humor in the situation. One Redditor commented, “Bet they don’t open that window again until the kid is 32.”

Another grimly amusing part of the video shows a guy near ground level holding a bag of some description. Quite what he hoped to achieve is beyond me, but we can’t be too hard on him. He was probably under a lot of strain. Not nearly as much as the hero rescuer clambering out of the window, though. We salute your efforts, sir.
