All in the Family star Sally Struthers has a few things to get off her chest regarding the late Golden Girls‘ star Betty White. It’s been four years since White’s passing, and to this day, everyone still loves and adores the late actress. That is everyone but Sally Struthers.
Sally Struthers is outing the late Golden Girl star as a bully and a mean girl. It seems that Sally had a rather unpleasant experience with Betty White that has stuck with her for several years.
Sally Struthers revealed her true feelings about Betty White during a podcast episode of Let’s Talk About That! With Larry Saperstein and Jacob Bellotti.
“I know everybody loves her. They loved her so much,” Struthers said. “They signed petitions to get her to guest host on Saturday Night Live. I know all that. I didn’t have such a great experience with her.” She called her a “very passive-aggressive woman.”
Struthers claims that now that Betty is gone, she feels more comfortable discussing negative run-in with White. Sally recalls being at Betty’s home to work on a new game show pilot when Betty asked her housekeeper to bring them in a snack.
Sally admits that she knows that Betty White’s fans loved and adored her. They saw her as a sweet, grandmotherly figure. However, according to Sally, Betty had a mean side, and her words left quite a bite at times.
Fans Blast Sally Struthers For Dissing Betty White
Struthers continues by saying Betty’s housekeeper brought the snack in, and this is where White begins to bully and insult her. “Then the plate was set in the middle, and it was cookies, I think,” Struthers said. “So I reached for a cookie, and she said in front of everyone, ‘Oh, I wouldn’t do that if I were you, dear; you don’t need a cookie.‘”
The Yellowstone star reveals how shocked she was. “Totally fat-shamed me in front of the rest of the people in the room,” Struthers said. “And I thought, ‘Gosh, that’s not nice.'” It has been several years since her meeting with Betty White. However, it seemingly still affects Sally to this day.
Fans may remember Sally Struthers best from her role as Gloria Bunker Stivic on the 70s classic comedy series All In the Family. She also has made appearances and guest spots on a number of TV shows throughout the years, including Gilmore Girls and, most recently, Yellowstone.
Betty White’s army of fans did not care for Sally Struthers, who was talking badly about the world’s beloved Betty and began blasting Struthers in the comment section. “Is there any reason she needs to attack Betty White now after she’s gone other than to try to be relevant?” one fan questions.
“Making comments about dead people when they are not here to defend themselves is cowardly,” blasts another.
“Why say this now? What’s the point? If she was that troubled by what Betty said, she should have put her big girl panties on and talked to Betty directly. Saying unpleasant things about someone after they’re dead is really poor. Especially such a beloved woman as Betty,” states a third.
“So what if she wasn’t as sweet as she looked. Who is? Sounds like she had a little Sue Ann Nivens in her in real life. Sally needs to get over it.”
Sally Struthers makes it clear she was offended by Betty White’s version of fat-shaming and bullying. As far as Betty’s fans are concerned, she can do no wrong. They feel Sally survived with just a few hurt feelings. So they feel it is time for her to let it go and move on.
