Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 has faced heated criticism from fans over its inclusion of diversity and LGBTQ content. The controversy stems from rumors that the game contains unskippable LGBTQ scenes. Many users have shared their opinions on X, criticizing Warhorse Studios and Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 for being ‘woke.’ In response to the backlash, Creative Director Daniel Vávra posted a statement on X, reaffirming the team’s creative decisions.

The complaints raised by these fans are largely similar. Many argue that the inclusion of Black characters and LGBTQ content is unrealistic, given the game’s historical setting. Others believe that making the protagonist suddenly gay is unacceptable.

This stance isn’t surprising, as the first game lacked LGBTQ content and diversity. The sudden change in approach from Warhorse Studios has led these fans to accuse Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 of being ‘woke.’ “My position stands. The game is non-buy-nary,” one fan wrote on X.

Another fan attempted to clear up the misunderstanding by stating that Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 doesn’t feature unskippable LGBTQ scenes. In fact, players must actively choose the gay romance route, and even then, the characters are very secretive about their relationship. The game also includes a Black character who works as a medic. The fan noted that while his presence may seem out of place, the game will explain how he ended up in Bohemia.

Due to the controversy, Creative Director Daniel Vávra stated that Warhorse Studios is currently caught amid a rather bizarre ‘culture war.’ He doubled down, asserting that the game was exactly what he wanted. Vávra emphasized that no one was influencing his decisions and that each character had a clear reason for being in the game. He also stressed that Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is a role-playing game, meaning that players’ choices will shape the story’s development.

Turns out that we are once again in the middle of a rather bizarre "culture war", this time from the opposite side than usual :) So here's a statement, but I'd hate to spoil the plot of the game for the sake of it. pic.twitter.com/MDgbY7WD7A

Unfortunately, this response did not appease the fans. Many remain unhappy with the protagonist being bisexual, with some even calling Vávra a liar. However, others support Vávra’s decision. “As long as the game remains 100% historically accurate, it doesn’t bother me,” one fan wrote. “That’s what attracted me to KCD to begin with.”
