There are many behavioural traits that show how unfriendly men can be to women, such as making inappropriate comments or catcalling. Many women prefer to ignore men and run away from these situations for safety. However, the lady in this Reddit video did an experiment in Manhattan by recording men’s reactions when she responded to their inappropriate comments. A lot of these men were shocked by the girl’s unexpected response. Too many people believe that this is something that happens rarely, but it is a very real situation that happens everywhere at all times.
The Redditor No-Quarter-8559 shared on r/theviralthings an experiment by Hollaback, a non-profit dedicated to combatting street harassment. In this experiment, a lady recorded 10 hours of herself walking around Manhattan in a simple, non-revealing outfit. The main point of the experiment was that if someone made a strange comment, she would respond to see how people react.
In most cases, people catcall to make the other person uncomfortable, as if they enjoy giving them a hard time. Fortunately, the girl in the video did an Uno reverse.
The reaction from the guy who asked to get married was so funny, like when met with enthusiasm the creep immediately was turned off by it. They like the fact it makes women uncomfortable and don’t know what to do when she doesn’t react that way.

These people rarely have to deal with someone who knows how to stand up for themselves, so their behavior continues to be just as bad.
He reminds me of dogs who bark and follow cars but go quite [sic] when the car halts and someone asks them whatsup.

In the end, the experiment revealed that in those 10 hours in Manhattan, 10 people, mostly men, who made inappropriate comments never expected the lady to respond to them. So many in the video hurt themselves in confusion, started to insult the girl, and others ran away. For these people, it is normal to annoy others, but they don’t like others calling them out. These people may think twice before saying something, and hopefully, when people see something like this on the street, they get more involved instead of ignoring it.
