Spider-Man 3 Won’t Sideline Peter Parker; Voice Actor Confirms he Isn’t Going Anywhere

Insomniac Games has confirmed that Peter Parker will return in Spider-Man 3 for PlayStation 5, despite the character stepping back from his superhero role at the end of Spider-Man 2. Yuri Lowenthal, the voice actor for Peter Parker, spoke with The Direct and addressed Peter’s role in the next Spider-Man game.

At the conclusion of Spider-Man 2, Peter Parker temporarily retired from his role as Spider-Man to focus on his personal life and the Emily-May Foundation, leaving Miles Morales as New York’s only web-slinger. Lowenthal’s comments confirm that Peter’s absence will not be permanent, and he will play a significant role in the next installment, thank the spider gods.

Lowenthal stated:

There are very few things that I can say about this game, but you have somehow landed on the one thing that I can answer, and that’s that, yes, Peter is not gone. He will be a part of the next game and he won’t be relegated to the couch, I promise.

If Peter wasn’t important in the next game, that would also sideline Venom, as well as Anti-Venom. Not to mention the importance of Carnage in the upcoming game, following his escape during a Spider-Man 2 side-mission.

The post-credit scene of Spider-Man 2 hinted at Norman Osborn’s plans involving the “G-serum” and Harry Osborn’s deteriorating condition, suggesting that Green Goblin could be one of the main antagonists in Spider-Man 3. Peter’s connection to the Osborn family is expected to be a key element in the story, potentially pulling him back into action.

The post-credit scene also introduced Cindy Moon, the daughter of Rio Morales’ boyfriend, Albert. In Marvel Comics, Cindy becomes the superhero Silk after being bitten by the same radioactive spider that gave Peter Parker his powers. This has led to speculation that Cindy could become a playable character in Spider-Man 3, alongside Peter and Miles. If this happens, it could introduce new gameplay mechanics and abilities unique to Silk.

Insomniac Games has not provided further details about Spider-Man 3 or its release date, but Peter Parker’s confirmed involvement and the potential introduction of Silk suggest that the game will continue to expand the Spider-Man universe.
