There’s something about fast food joints that brings out everybody’s inner Karen. From a racist in the McDonalds parking lot to a furious customer in Subway to a rude woman in Burger King, it seems that hunger and anger are not exactly an ideal combination. Where’s the latest Karen been spotted, though? In a Popeyes in San Leandro, California where a Karen was observed throwing random objects at her server culminating in her being asked to leave the premises.
While we don’t get to see the buildup before the altercation, the 24-second clip opens unsurprisingly at a Popeyes counter. A woman wearing white shorts and a white t-shirt is stood waiting for her order. It appears that the employee behind the counter is a little fed up with her, as he states: “You can read the f***ing receipt?” Oddly, however, the lady responds to the employee in a rude manner, “You’re supposed to be black.” She then hurls what appears to be her change at the Popeyes server.
The Karen then picks up a handful of plastic drink lids and slings them at the member of staff. But that’s not all. She then proceeds to pick up a drinks tray and throws that at the fast food employee, but it misses and smashes into the TV’s menu screen above the counter leaving a noticeable black crack on the display. The server then asks the woman to leave. “Come on! Go! Get the hell out!” he declares waving his hand. The Karen hurls one final handful of straws at the man before heading for the exit and the clip comes to a close.
Netizens, of course, were not best pleased by the Karen’s ill manners. Over on Instagram, comments came flooding in criticising the woman. “Call the cops & make her pay for everything she just destroyed” penned one commenter. Meanwhile, another wrote, “I’ll never understand people who get so pressed about fast food. Just get your money back and go somewhere else., it’s not that serious. Never p*ss off the people who handle your food.” On Reddit, one user chimed in with, “Southern hospitality. LMFAO 😂😂”
It’s currently unclear whether the police were called to the store or whether charges were pressed against the Karen. Popeyes is yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
