Residents of Springboro, Ohio, are raising alarm after a local park was vandalized in the most despicable way. On Monday, city officials announced an incident at North Park where perpetrators poured motor oil on playground equipment.

According to a Facebook post by the city, the incident happened over the weekend. Gallons of used motor oil were doused on several swings, slides, and play areas. New and smaller playgrounds were also trashed. Photos of the vandalism showed several slides soaked with the motor oils. Even the park’s two temporary restrooms weren’t excluded from the damage, as the wrongdoers littered tissue all over the oil spill. Unfortunately, there is no video evidence of the culprits because monitoring cameras were removed due to construction for the new restroom building.

Cleanup for the oil damage has already begun. “Please note that many play areas are currently cordoned off as crews work to remove and clear the oil,” the statement read. The Springboro, Ohio, Police Department is seeking witnesses to report anything suspicious at 937-748-0611.

“If the slides and turf can’t be appropriately cleaned and repaired, they will need to be replaced, which will close these areas of the playground. If you SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING.”

The devastating incident has left residents of Springboro bothered about their safety and neighborhood.

“Extremely disrespectful, whoever did this,” one user slammed. “Assuming kids, parents need to keep a better eye on locations of their teens & what they are up to. They also threw hundreds of paper towels all throughout the park.”

“Who even thinks to do this?” questioned another resident. “Hey, let’s get oil and pour it down the slides and play in the portipotti! Unbelievable!“

“This situation is truly unfortunate. It’s hard to understand why anyone would do this,” a third comment read.

“It’s terrible we can’t have nice things,” another lamented.

“This is infuriating! Such a disrespectful and disgraceful act. What is wrong with people?“

Other residents speculated about who the suspects might be. Some suggested it was a group of unruly teenagers, and one user even insinuated it was an adult.

“This seems more like a disgruntled adult. Possibly upset about the recent upswing at attendance to the park maybe somebody that lives right there with it in there back yard. Idk kids are more inclined to spray paint or break stuff out right idk maybe.”
