Albuquerque Police Officer Drag a Mentally Challenged Man Out of Target: ‘The Cops Are Completely in the Wrong Here’

This is so sad and outrageous

This is another case in which the police should protect the weakest or the citizens in general, but do the exact opposite. It is so sad how this Reddit video shows a Mentally Challenged man wanting to buy something at the self-checkout at a Target in Albuquerque, but the police, instead of helping him, prefer to drag him out. When I no longer expect anything, humanity sometimes disappoints me again.

Mentally challenged man struggles at the self checkout at Target… and then the cops drag him outside and do this
byu/kudukobapav37888 inwoahthatsinteresting

Redditor kudukobapapav37888 shared on r/woahthatsinteresting this video that only caused the anger of many users because the situation is so unfair. It’s outrageous to see how this mentally challenged man is trying to do his shopping at Target, but apparently, being slow is an offense, and so the police officer dragged him out as if he were stealing. The man had the money necessary to pay for the bike he wanted and wasn’t interfering with anyone or holding up the line as he used the self-checkout; there were more cashiers to help other clients. Many users first believed that the cop would help the man, but no; instead, how he acted was very unfair.

The cops are completely in the wrong here. But what POS employee calls the cops for a customer having a problem.
Edit: seeing the cop’s face in court getting fired and charged made my fucking day found it here

Many Redditors added that, apparently, no Target employee accused the poor man. Others added that this is news from 2022, and now we know that the cop was taken to court for this situation in 2024. This resulted in Kenneth Skeens, the abusive cop, being fired and charged.

This could have been a completely different headline. “Local Policeman helps man struggling to pay for his bicycle.” With a nice photo op of him riding his bike outside.

What could have been a great action by the cop only demonstrated his lack of empathy and that he was not there to help people. Cops like this should never be around other people. It is alarming to think that heartless people with power trips are in these jobs when a police officer is supposed to de-escalate, calm, and provide security, and that people can’t trust them.
