Sometimes you never know what you will find. A dollar under the sofa, an unexpected bug in your cereal, or maybe, just maybe, a message in a bottle. Oftentimes, you find something so out of place that you can’t help but share it with the world. Well, that is exactly what happened earlier today, when a famous Cleveland staple was found on the other side of the world.
In a rather amusing post by Looneyinthehills on the r/Cleveland Reddit page, the user shared a picture of an ad for Shooters Waterfront Cafe, an Ohio restaurant that’s been around for well over 30 years. However, this ad was found all the way in Australia. Once again, Cleveland proves itself a global phenomenon, as users in the Reddit post shared their hilarious anecdotes from their worldly travels and experiences. The ad also featured a beloved local rock station, 107.9 The End FM.
“That coaster is at least 25 years old 😂”
“So true! I’d visited the world’s oldest bar, Sean’s Pub, in Athlone, Ireland. They have police patches hung all over the walls. Five seconds of looking at them, I saw North Olmsted, OH.”
“My friend and I were in Peru during the 2016 Cavs championship and found a bar that had it playing on TV. Next thing we know a random guy comes up to us and asks us if we were from Cleveland, because he was too! I swear no matter where you travel there’s always a Clevelander”
“107.9 was so good when it was The End.”
“I know everyone’s fixated on the radio station, but I can’t believe it says Shooters had only been around for 10 years at that point.”
“Australia? Now I know how the Egyptians feel seeing their stuff in English museums.”
Based on the age of the restaurant, which is still going strong to this day, this ad must be at least 25 years old, as it highlights the business being open for a mere ten years at this point. You never know what you’ll find on any given day, but the odds are, it will likely be from Cleveland.
