The night of March 16th, 2025. A 75-year-old Iowa Man by the name of Richard Hoesing had just called 911 to report that he had murdered his own wife. Law Enforcement officers were then dispatched to the Hoesing’s residents to respond to the reported crime. Unfortunately for those involved, the call was correct. Officers found Richard inside his home along with the body of his wife, 74-year-old Jean Hoseing. Although Jean would be found with a “severe laceration” on her throat.

Reports from Law and Crime confirm that during the 911 call, Richard Hoesing stated that he killed his wife to put her out of her own misery. Jean Hoesing had been suffering from bipolar disorder as well as many other unnamed mental illnesses. She had also been dealing with Multiple Sclerosis. Richard was reportedly very cooperative with the police as they arrived at the home. However, he would continuously state that he had blood on his hands and clothes. A small wooden-handled knife could also be found in the bathroom sink. It appears that Richard had tried to clean the murder weapon, but failed to do so as blood was found on the blade. This has led many social media users to believe that “This was an act of rage.”

Iowan Man Richard Hoesing Says He Killed His Wife Out of Mercy

Multiple Sclerosis is a chronic disease of the central nervous system. This disease is extremely unpredictable, and some may only be mildly affected. However, others may lose the ability to see clearly, write, speak, or even walk. While it is unknown what can cause MS exactly, it is widely believed to be genetic. However, environmental factors have also been said to play a part. This has also led some internet users to think “He probably got tired of taking care of her.”

There is really no way to truly understand why this Iowa Man would kill his wife. Whether or not it was her illnesses, relationship issues, or just out of rage only Richard Hoesing knows for sure. However, there is just no way to know if he is telling the truth. However, one thing is for certain. The life of Jean Hoesing was taken unfairly. Richard will more than likely be facing the full extent of the law for his actions.
