An Ohio man is finally facing the wrath of the law nearly two years after gruesomely murdering his girlfriend. 22-year-old Kandawaswika Kahari has been sentenced to 39 years behind bars for killing his partner, Susan Ramburg. In 2023, police discovered Ramburg’s body in the trunk of her car. After investigations, it was revealed that Kahari punched and strangled his 46-year-old lover in her garage after an argument.

After killing his lover, Kahari subjected her 10-year-old son to a very disturbing experience. The Ohio native first attacked the young boy with a shovel. He then forced the youngster to help him make a bed for his mom’s dead body in the trunk of her car. Additionally, Kahari continued hitting the victim’s son and left him alone at the residence.

ABC 6 reports that during Kahari’s sentencing, the family of the victim recounted the traumatic experience the 10-year-old faced.

“He should never have to hug his dead mother, put her in the car with her murderer. He should never have to play dead while laying in his own blood so his mother’s murderer would stop kicking him.”

The relative continued, highlighting that the victim’s son lived in fear, enduring abuse from his mom’s murderer for almost three weeks following her death. “He should never have been left alone in a house for three weeks where he knows that his mother’s body is in the garage.”

“He should never have to live in fear, wondering if and when he would be fed by a man who tried to kill him.”

In sentencing the 22-year-old, the judge took into consideration the psychological toll the victim’s son faced. She also described the murder as “the most horrific murder” ever seen during her career.

Internet users were, however, dissatisfied with the sentence of the court. Some users suggested the appropriate punishment should have been the death penalty.

“He’s a despicable person and should have gotten the death penalty,” one user suggested. “I can’t imagine what he put this family through before and after he killed her. Prayers for the son.”

A second netizen suggested, “Death sentence no appeal. Strangulation is the worst type of crime you can do in history. It is literally the oldest type of killing with purpose there is in the world. It is literally the most instinctual kill of hand-to-hand combat.”

One other commenter left a heartfelt prayer for the victim’s son. “This poor little boy I wish him the most peace and healing I couldn’t imagine,” the commenter wrote.

A fourth user added, “Child in a man’s body now doing time like an old man. He should never get out. He is beyond redemption.”

On completing the 39-year sentence, Kahari will be eligible for parole. Ramberg’s obituary describes her as a “devoted mother.” May her soul rest in peace.
