An Oklahoma TikTok user recently went viral for sharing her very strong opinions about large families. The woman named Madison took to the social media app to reveal her own personal story about being the oldest of eight children, and how it impacted her childhood and life growing up. She then went on to reveal all of the reasons she believes having several children is harmful and many agreed with her.

In her TikTok video, Madison told people to “stop having so many kids.” The Oklahoma native claimed that she was “ready” to share her “spicy” thoughts about big families, and expected some backlash from her rant. However, it didn’t matter to her. Instead, she revealed why she thinks it’s irresponsible to have too many children, and why parents should consider the consequences of large family life.

“I’m ready to say it,” Madison said in the video. “You cannot have half a dozen plus kids and be adequately meeting each one of those child’s needs — you cannot … I am the oldest of eight, OK? I have been there, and I know.”

“Number one, they like to say, ‘Love doesn’t divide, it multiplies,’” she said. “Love may divide, but time doesn’t. And children need time … the amount of time a child needs from a caregiver doesn’t reduce just because there are more children in the picture or because you love them just as much.”

Madison went on to claim that some children raised in large families enjoyed the experience. However, she’s willing to bet that there is no large family where every child enjoys having multiple siblings, and that’s all that really matters.

The social media user went on to reveal that she and her siblings only had one-on-one time with their mother once or twice a year, because there simply wasn’t time for more.

Of course, the comment section of the video popped off, and it seemed that everyone had an opinion about Madison’s story.

“I have 9 siblings. 4th born. My needs were NEVER met, besides being fed. It was awful,” one person commented on the video.

“Parents who need to hear this won’t listen because they don’t care about what’s best for their children. In my big family, kids were called selfish for having basic needs. It’s not good for anyone!” another said.

“SAY IT LOUDER! This is honestly abusive in my opinion. Neglect is REAL,” a third person stated.

“Elon… Nick Cannon, are you listening?” a fourth comment read.

It seems that Madison sparked a major debate online. She appeared to have all of her TikTok users talking, and sharing their thoughts on how many kids is too many. So, the conversation drags on, as this Oklahoma woman shined a light on what it’s really like living in a large family.
