When it feels like every Ken and Karen has done it all, another rises to set a new record. This time, a racist Ken caused a ruckus at a Mexican restaurant located in Chicago, Illinois, for playing loud Mexican music. The man took it as far as calling the cops on the restaurant owners.
The footage posted on Reddit showed the man at the diner’s entrance, Antonio’s Tacos, yelling at the business owners. He donned a gray sweatshirt paired with shorts while holding his bicycle. The person filming the clip was heard yelling, “This man here has been harassing my family’s business, Antonio’s Tacos. He’s racist as f—.”
A female cop was at the scene telling the man to “walk away.” However, the man ignored her and kept exchanging words with anyone defending the restaurant. A live band was spotted in a corner standing idly, as though their performance was cut short by the incident.
Again, the officer could be heard telling the dude to end his tantrum. She said, “You need to stop. I’m taking care of this. You need to walk away.” The man replied he was going to stay at the scene. At the response, the officer pointed to a part of the road where he could stay, and he obeyed.
However, the scuffle did not end when the man moved to the road. The exchange continued, with the diner owners explaining that they could play music since it’s a public establishment. Soon, a loud police van siren sounded, announcing their arrival, and the man said, “Thank God.” Before the clip ended, the cameraman admonished the dude, saying, “You called the police for music. Dude, you sound stupid.”
The video went mainstream, and Redditors came out in numbers ridiculing the man’s behavior. “Bet he goes HARD for unseasoned chicken,” one comment read. Another person mocked, “Temu Pee Wee Herman is all I can see.”
Other Redditors opined that white privilege was at play in the incident. One user wrote, “This is exactly what white privilege looks like. If that man was a minority? He would have been pepper sprayed and arrested by now. Or if that man was a liberal on a protest, he would have been pepper sprayed and arrested by now.”
This user questioned, “What does a white guy need to do to a cop to get arrested there?”
It is unsure if the video ended in an arrest. However, with the rising occurrence of these racist incidents, Karens and Kens are meeting their fate thanks to the Internet.
