Electronic Arts has officially revealed the title of its upcoming Star Wars game: Zero Company, and unlike recent entries, it is a strategy game. Briefly mentioned back in 2022, the game has now been confirmed as a single-player, turn-based tactics title, with a full reveal set for April 19 at Star Wars Celebration Japan.
Zero Company is being developed by Bit Reactor, a studio formed by veterans who previously worked on titles like XCOM and Civilization. Bit Reactor is working in collaboration with Respawn Entertainment and Lucasfilm Games, both of whom are also involved in broader Star Wars projects under EA’s publishing banner.
While specific details such as release date and supported platforms have not been disclosed, more information is expected to be shared during a panel at Star Wars Celebration this month. The event will include representatives from Bit Reactor, Respawn, and Lucasfilm Games, along with a first look at gameplay and the game’s tactical mechanics.
Zero Company is one of three Star Wars titles that Respawn confirmed it was working on back in January 2022. The first of those, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, was released in 2023 as the follow-up to Jedi: Fallen Order. The third project remains unnamed but is described as an original first-person shooter.
After the success of Marvel’s Midnight Suns, a game in the same vein set in the Star Wars universe could do fairly well. But if games like this don’t float your boat, you can always look forward to the upcoming Star Wars Jedi Survivor sequel that Respawn is working on. We don’t know much about that game either, but since we’re already two games in, we can expect the series to continue the soulslike combat and difficulty with some force powers thrown in for good measure.
For more details, we will just have to wait for the April 19 showcase.
