A content creator’s video showcasing what is usually a fun Easter tradition for families has us nearly losing me lunch. But before you run to the nearest toilet, you better make sure that your family’s dyed Easter eggs aren’t in there. This is exactly what Kate Heintzelman from Minnesota, a content creator with the handle @katewilltryanything, thought would make sense: dyeing Easter eggs in her toilet. Yes, you read that right. If this doesn’t cross eggs off your diet, your will is stronger than mine.
The video with now millions of views starts out eggs-actly how you may expect: Heintzelman fills the toilet with a few dozen eggs and drizzles food coloring around the rim and into the bowl. She then throws in a little baking soda and a gallon of vinegar and you magically watch the eggs transform from white to bright, tie-dye colors.
Even though they look just as pretty as the eggs that your family may find at an Easter egg hunt in the days leading up to the holiday, nothing could ever convince me that these eggs are anything but an unhygienic mess the moment they touched the toilet bowl. And the thought of anybody eating them after this fiasco? No money in the world would convince me.
Allegedly, Heintzelman thought of this brilliant idea when taking egg-dyeing matters to the kitchen didn’t work out. She attempted to dye eggs with vinegar and baking soda in her kitchen, but the mixture exploded everywhere on her counter, making a huge mess for her to clean up. Instead of admitting defeat and realizing that maybe this Easter activity wasn’t for her, she realized that the bathroom might be the way to go.
