Sony has announced the release date of Ghost of Yotei along with a gameplay trailer, a spiritual successor to Ghost of Tsushima, that will launch on PlayStation 5 on October 2, 2025. Although the two games are not narratively connected, the studio describes Ghost of Yotei as a follow-up in spirit, with a new protagonist, a new setting, and enhanced gameplay systems.
Set in Ezo—modern-day Hokkaido—the game follows Atsu in a familiar tale of revenge, a lone warrior seeking revenge against the Yotei Six, the outlaws who murdered her family and left her for dead sixteen years ago. Armed with the very katana used in her attempted execution, Atsu returns to her homeland to hunt each of the six: The Snake, The Oni, The Kitsune, The Spider, The Dragon, and Lord Saito.
A new gameplay trailer titled Ghost of Yotei – The Onryō’s List introduces the game’s key mechanics and narrative premise. Exploration will offer more freedom than in Ghost of Tsushima, allowing players to choose which targets to pursue, engage in side contracts, and seek out weapon masters to unlock new abilities. Players can also build campsites anywhere in the open world to rest and prepare.
Pre-orders for Ghost of Yotei open on May 2 at 10:00 AM in every time zone and include a unique in-game mask and a set of seven PSN avatars. The standard edition will be priced at $69.99 USD.
A Digital Deluxe Edition will also be available for $79.99 USD. It includes exclusive in-game items such as The Snake’s armor set, a horse and saddle dye, an in-game charm, a gold sword kit, and early access to Traveler’s Maps used to locate skill-upgrade statues.
For collectors, a physical Collector’s Edition will be available through the official PlayStation website and select retailers. This edition includes everything from the Digital Deluxe Edition plus a life-sized replica of Atsu’s Ghost mask, a cotton-blend sash featuring the names of the Yotei Six, a forged replica Tsuba, coins for the in-game mini-game Zeni Hajiki, a papercraft ginkgo tree with a wolf, and four 5×7″ art cards.
Sucker Punch says more details will be shared in the coming months. Players can wishlist Ghost of Yotei now on PlayStation Store to receive future updates ahead of the October release date.
