Texas TikToker Succulentasdict8 Fired Over Fat-Shaming Rant, “You Shouldn’t Be Allowed to Be a Pilates Instructor If You Have a Gut”

It costs nothing to be kinder

In a world where you can choose to be kind, why choose to be fatphobic? Body positivity is a movement that we’ve needed our entire lives. Unfortunately, Texas Tiktoker Succulentasdict8 missed the memo and said some undesirable things about people with “a gut” and Pilates classes. Now, as these things go, she is out of a job and a gym membership. It really goes to show that some things are best kept to yourself if what you’re saying is awful and that everything has consequences.

Tiktoker user Succulentasdict8 from Texas spilled her guts in a since-deleted clip on TikTok, but it was too late. Several Tiktok users kept the receipts. Monica boldly confronted her viewers with her truth: “If you’re 200lb, you shouldn’t be in a Pilates class.” She continued, “And you shouldn’t be allowed to be a Pilates instructor if you have a gut.”

this is so close to home for me and makes me so sad that she did this to the pilates community. #succulentaddict8 please find a new hobby that’s not cyber bullying. #clubpilates #clubpilatesfamily #stitch

Because nothing comes without consequences, Monica’s job and the gym she formerly hung out at found out about the video. In a follow-up video, she stated that the initial video caused a lot of grief in her personal life. Both her job and gym membership at Stone Ridge Dental were lost.

She went on to give her excuses on the matter, “I think the reason I posted them was because there are some insecurities in me and some self-hate, but my Pilates membership was revoked and I was told not to go back to work.” Partway through the video, she broke down in tears. She then finishes the video by asking for forgiveness for her prior outburst.

Unimpressed viewers had a lot to say about Succulentasdict8’s apology. One commented, “Feels like you’re only sorry because you got fired.” Another admitted, “This is why I do Pilates at home because of people like this. The amount of hate plus-size women get is ridiculous and uncalled for.”

A Pilates instructor even weighed in on the video. “I’m a Pilates instructor… I have a gut because of my loose skin from my pregnancy and I go to the gym.” Too few people realize that everybody’s situations are different and we’re all working toward similar goals in our daily lives. It would’ve cost Succulentasdict8 nothing to be kinder and more understanding.

One user made a good point and asked, “Literally when did we start body shaming again?” But, the truth is, it never really stopped. Everybody is just trying to exist and do their best. Everyone should be welcome at gyms without feeling like a burden or as if they’re being judged by others on varying fitness levels. So, in conclusion: Keep doing your best and forget the rest.
