We’ve all seen memes and posts surrounding ‘alpha males’ on the internet over the years. What if there was a special retreat where men could learn the ins and outs of being a true alpha male? In a thrilling, absurd, and downright hilarious video posted on r/TikTokCringe, a video focuses on an alpha male boot camp in California where men actually pay to be a part of a ‘true’ alpha male experience. The video truly leaves me at a loss for words.
The retreat is hosted by Bedros Keuilian, who appears in the video shouting and demeaning participants. Bedros is the creator of several companies known as the Misogi Challenge, The Modern Day Knight Project, Fit Body Boot Camp, and more. Regardless of its name, they all encompass the idea of turning mean into alpha males. Whatever that means! If you’re not already laughing or rolling your eyes, you will be when you see the video.
The video starts with Bedros standing in front of a group of men and saying something a bit concerning. Bedros admits, “I have literally done my best, everything in my f*g power, to kill every single one of you. And the ones that don’t deserve to be here are no longer here.” The video shows a montage of participants having tables thrown at them, verbally berated, sit-ups in the ocean, and being dragged down a rocky hillside.
Another ‘fun’ feature includes Bedros yelling, “You told your family, ‘I’m going to sunny southern California.'” It then cuts to Bedros making participants stand in cold rain while wearing shorts. I almost feel bad for these men; then I see they paid $18K for the experience. That’s right, $18,000 to be screamed at and told off while being physically harmed!
Commenters on the Reddit post were clearly just as alarmed by the weird ‘alpha male’ tactics. One person said, “I could never take that seriously and would be laughing the whole time.”
Another replied to their comment, “Honestly, everyone in the video is a loser.”
Another pointed out under the same comment thread, “I’m kinda feeling sad for them. Imagine the sheer amount of loneliness and desperation that would drive a person to believing their needed something like this.”
This is pretty on-brand with social media alpha male trends. Apparently, if men aren’t enduring torture, they aren’t ‘manly’ enough. Anyone doing this is just getting ripped off. Why not just join the military? You’d actually get paid instead of, you know, forking over $18,000. That money could be used to enjoy what California has to offer!
