Indiana Tornado Leaves Wedding Guests Running for Cover, ‘We’re Not Forced to Stay in a Death Barn’

That’s an omen

There are many ways in which weddings are crashed, from uninvited guests showing up to family and friends filling up on way too much alcohol. But what would you do if, on your special day, a catastrophic weather event put a halt on things? A tornado in Indiana took the phrase ‘til death do us part’ a little too seriously. It started quite a bit of drama that nobody was expecting.

In Bloomington, Indiana, a wedding led to fear and disaster when a tornado decided to rear its ugly head! The groom’s sister, Morgan, shared a video on TikTok where guests were heard screaming in panicked voices.

“There’s a tornado!” and “Here it comes!” guests said. A gray funnel made its way to the wedding venue, far too close for comfort. Everybody ran for cover, fearing that it would make its way directly toward them.

A few frightened guests discussed high-tailing it out of there before things got worse. One could be heard saying, “We’re not forced to stay in a death barn.” while another commented, “This is not gonna save us from that if it hits,” in regards to the barn and its overall sturdiness. It just goes to show that checking the weather again and again isn’t always accurate. And it cares little for your special day, especially a tornado.

Back in April 2025, a restaurant owner shared a video of their business in chest-high water. The twist? It was done intentionally to stop a flood filling their restaurant with mud. That was in Kentucky.

In Indiana, another tornado hit a family, who had just barely saved their dog. That also happened this year, back in March. If they had waited a few moments more, their poor pup would’ve been hurt or worse.

The most crucial thing you can do to keep your sanity is to prepare as much as possible before you walk the aisle. Of course, a tornado isn’t going to wait for anyone. But having a backup plan for the weather taking an adverse turn can make things easier and monitoring the forecasts can help as well.

Having a sturdy venue in preparation is a good idea if it’s tornado season in Indiana, which runs from April to June (with May being the most likely to experience one!) We hope that this couple will take away one special thing from their wedding: A cool story to tell in the future.
