Meghan Markle fondly recalls details about her pregnancy, including her alarming weight gain, in the latest episode of her Lemonada Media podcast. The 43-year-old began her motherhood journey in 2018, following her marriage to Prince Harry. The couple welcomed their first child, Prince Archie, in May 2019, months after officially announcing Meghan’s pregnancy to the world. Notably, Meghan lived through her first pregnancy in the full glare of the public as a senior working royal, her transforming body evident as her delivery date drew closer. However, her second pregnancy was not as publicized. After a low-key pregnancy, Harry and Meghan announced the birth of their daughter, Lilibeth, in June 2021, completing their perfect family of four.
Four years later, Meghan is fondly reminiscing on her days as an expectant mother. In the latest episode of her podcast, Confessions of a Female Founder, Meghan Markle discussed her two pregnancies, revealing she gained remarkable weight both times.

For the episode, the As Ever founder hosted Sara Blakely, founder of the shapewear company Spanx. While discussing Sara’s new business venture, a footwear option that combines the comfort of sneakers and the classiness of heels, the duchess recalled how excruciating it was enduring wearing high heels while pregnant, an ordeal made worse by her pregnancy weight gain. She recounted,
“I gained 65 pounds with both pregnncies. A friend jut said to me the other day, they were like, I just saw this picture I’d forgotten bout when you were so pregnant with Archie.”
Going further, she admitted that despite the added weight, she had to keep up her classy appearance, wearing the five-inch pointy-toed stilettos typical of royal women. According to Meghan, the friend teased her about her “little ankles bracing themselves” in the uncomfortable heels under the weight of her enormous bump. Recalling how she survived those excruciating hours on heels while pregnant, the duchess admitted to leaning on her husband for physical support. She quipped,
“So you’re just going, how on earth am I not just tipping, you know fce planting? I was clinging very closely to my husband, like, ‘Please don’t let me fall.'”

Being in her thirties at the time did not make the experience any easier. Meghan Markle, who married husband Prince Harry at 36, had her first baby at the age of 37, welcoming her second just two years later, following a miscarriage. According to WebMD, having a baby at an age older than 35 makes a woman more susceptible to gaining weight. At that advanced maternal age, it also becomes a lot more difficult to lose the pregnancy weight after birth However, Meghan Markle has since managed to shed the weight seamlessly after two kids.
In fact, her alarming weight loss has made headlines severely, with many accusing the duchess of turning to unconventional means to lose weight. Regardless, the mom of two is not exactly alien to such speculations. Aside from her weight loss, Meghan has faced allegations of undergoing cosmetic procedures to enhance her appearance. A recent report suggested that the 43-year-old had more such procedures on the lineup as she was looking to undergo a full body rejuvenation in preparation for her speculated split from Harry. While the “revenge body” theory remains to be disputed, Meghan’s impressive weight loss since her pregnancy journey is undeniably eyebrow-raising.
