There’s nothing more tragic than feeling like you’re at a point where your life is truly moving forward and having that cut short. The world can be cruel, but that word doesn’t accurately describe what a Texas parent has felt after learning their daughter was killed in a hit-and-run jet ski accident. What’s even worse than the death is that the girl who was killed had only just signed up to join the Air Force as well. You just never know what sort of circumstances life has just waiting around the corner.

A teenage kayaker who had just joined the Air Force was killed when a rogue jet skier slammed into her on a Texas lake before fleeing the scene. Ava Moore, 18, was visiting her family for Memorial Day weekend when the tragic incident occurred. Tap the link for the full story on DailyMail.com. #news #airforce #military #texas #rip

The above video details what happened to Ava Moore, an 18-year-old from Texas who had only just finished her first year at the US Air Force Academy Preparatory School. The incident occurred during Memorial Day weekend when the teenager and her family were kayaking on Grapevine Lake, just 20 miles northwest of Dallas, Texas. A different lake-goer was riding a jet ski and collided with the teenager before driving off without verifying if Moore was okay.

Unfortunately, Moore was pulled from the waters and revealed to have fatal injuries. She passed away at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center shortly after being brought in. The driver, who has now been identified as Daikerlyn Lajandra Gonzalez, fled the scene with another person as a passenger. After feeling the scene via water, she did the same on land after entering a vehicle driven by an unidentified male. While fleeing, his car struck another nearby car. Gonzalez was apprehended earlier today, while the driver who aided in her escape is still wanted for questioning.

Ava Moore’s family set up a GoFundMe page to help support them during this difficult time. One person in the comments of the above video said, “HEARTBREAKING 💔JUSTICE FOR AVA MOORE 🙏🏽” The page details Moore’s life and even reveals that she had only graduated from Fort Worth Timber Creek High School in 2024.
