Ever since the infamous DOGE started messing with the country, we’ve seen the gutting of many sectors that were vital for all Americans. Recently, the one that has taken a huge hit and will affect the safety of all people in the country is the National Weather Service. A renowned South Florida weatherman said live on TV that he can’t accurately predict hurricanes anymore due to DOGE’s involvement. This is highly alarming because if this continues, no one will be able to provide an accurate forecast in the long run.

South Florida weatherman tells viewers he can't accurately predict hurricanes because of government cuts

User RoachedCoach shared the video of John Morales, a renowned weatherman on South Florida’s NBC 6 channel. The video begins with an accurate forecast of a hurricane from years ago. In it, Morales was able to predict when and where the hurricane would turn. However, according to the famous weatherman, he can’t do so anymore.

“As you’ve grown accustomed to my presentations over 34 years, in South Florida newscast, confidently, I went on TV and told you, ‘it’s going to turn.’ And I am here to tell you that I’m not sure I can do that this year. Because of the cuts, the gutting, the sledgehammer attack on science.” Said Morales.

Naturally, this refers to DOGE’s involvement in many of the country’s sectors. As you know, there have been cuts across the board, leaving many people without jobs and dangerously understaffed places like the National Weather Service.

Morales shows how the Central & South Florida National Weather Service is almost 40% understaffed. He also claims that there has been a reduction in weather balloon launches across the country of around 17%. It may not seem like much at first glance, but these numbers are alarming, as they are affecting the forecast accuracy nationwide.

Of course, many people don’t believe this, but there are a few internet users who are there to provide context on this alarming situation.

“For clarity: local news weather reporters are not the ones forecasting these storms. Heโ€™s saying that the National Weather Service, NOAA, and the NHC are so severely understaffed due to Trump and Elonโ€™s DOGE cuts that everyoneโ€™s forecast data will be degraded.” – DrManhattan_DDM via Reddit.

As you know, the hurricane season has officially begun and runs all the way until November. So, without a proper forecast, this is dangerous. People won’t be able to know when a hurricane will hit and if it will take a different trajectory, at least not accurately. Yet, we should be thankful for all the weathermen in and outside of Florida who are still doing their best to give us a proper forecast, even if conditions around the science department of the country aren’t as strong as they once were.
