After three delays and years of radio silence, Capcom’s long-dormant sci-fi project has officially resurfaced. Even better: Pragmata has finally locked in a release window for 2026. Revealed during the June State of Play stream, the game showed off a fresh trailer. Giving fans the long-awaited peek at its gameplay, story setup, and combat mechanics.

Pragmata follows two protagonists as they team up on a dark, desolate moon to take down a rogue AI controlling the lunar station. The armored man is finally named Hugh Williams, joined by the android girl Diana — short for D-I-0336-7.

Capcom describes the game as a mix of ‘action and strategy,’ with players controlling both characters simultaneously while hacking and battling across multiple sci-fi environments. Hugh will be able to whittle down enemies’ health with his space gun while Diana provides support with hacking abilities. From the looks of it, it could be part Binary Domain, part Death Stranding, with some Dead Space thrown in for good measure.

The 2026 release window reveal for Pragmata has triggered plenty of excitement across social media. On the official announcement on X, @YearOldOnTwit posted, “Game looks cool, can’t wait, hope it was worth the wait.”

@PoliticalGamerX wrote, “Reminds [me] of Nier X Death Stranding. It looks cool.”

Another user, @RinoTheBouncer, declared, “JUST GIVE IT TO ME🚀 THIS IS MY MOST HYPED GAME OF THE GENERATION ALONGSIDE DEATH STRANDING.”

On the YouTube trailer comment section, commenters echoed the hype. @lenarmangum8630 said, “I can’t wait for this game, take all the time you need Capcom! I’ll be there on day one when it’s ready!”

@1Dragon-King171 wrote, “Pragmata looks amazing reminds me of dead space and returnal.”

Meanwhile, a dejected Mega Man fan @RedX03 joked, “A sorta blue protagonist shooting robots, screw it I’ll accept.”

Director Cho Yonghee assured players that the team is working hard to make Pragmata worth the wait for the 2026 release. Judging by the polished new footage, it’s finally starting to look like Capcom might just stick the landing.

Speaking of Pragmata troubled 2026 release, of course, it’s hard to resist not to bring up Deep Down. Many believed it to be Capcom’s answer to Dark Souls with a bit of Assassin’s Creed sprinkled in. Nevertheless, despite an early demo reel that received positive reactions from fans, the project quietly disappeared years ago. Unlike Deep Down, Pragmata seems to be surviving the development gauntlet, though many are still cautiously optimistic after years of delays.

Until 2026 arrives, Pragmata fans are keeping their fingers crossed for the release. Hoping this moon mission doesn’t suffer the same fate as its medieval brother.
