Mexican Workers Care for Pepper-Sprayed Officers During California Anti-ICE Protest in Ironic Clip: ‘Same People They Are Ready To Deport’

Such wild irony

While the Anti-ICE protest continues in California, a shocking twist of events involving compassion for injured law enforcement officials has left the internet stunned. A group of Mexican restaurant workers was spotted caring for officers who were pepper-sprayed during the demonstration.

The ironic moment, caught on camera and shared on Reddit, showed two armed officers from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department seated in a Mexican restaurant, surrounded by the workers.

Both officers were red-eyed and appeared to be in pain. Nevertheless, the staff did not hesitate to offer comfort to them, despite knowing the officers belonged to the feared ICE team.

Two workers diligently fanned each of the personnel to ease the pain, and what looked like ice packs were given to the officers. Soon, an elderly woman brought a cup of milk and went ahead to clean one of the officer’s eyes with it.

While she gently cleaned his eyes, another employee wiped the drops of milk dripping on the officer’s uniform and his face. From the look on the aged woman’s face, it was evident that she was concerned about the well-being of the personnel.

The clip has now gone viral, and many Internet users have had mixed reactions about the incident. Some people opined that the Mexican workers’ good deeds would not save them from ICE’s brutal crackdown.

One internet user wrote, “Now they will get a visit from ICE.” Another netizen shared a similar opinion, writing, “And as soon as they’re done, they are being deported.”

When a third Redditor pointed out how caring the elderly woman was, another Redditor replied, “Yep, and ICE will be there tomorrow to deport her probably.”

Other Redditors seemingly criticized the officials for being on the wrong side of history. This social media enthusiast blasted the agents, writing, “The same people they’re sent to show aggression towards. They have a choice of which side is right.”

A second similar comment read, “The same people they are ready to deport.” This other netizen penned, “Gosh, I have really conflicting emotions about this. It really shows the type of people who make up the Mexican community. We need them in America. They make our country better.”

Anti-ICE demonstrations are still ongoing in Los Angeles, and there have been several clashes between protesters and the police. However, more National Guard troops have reportedly been deployed to handle the situation. As for the kind Mexicans, hopefully, they are spared from deportation.
