A Fugitive Zebra in Tennessee Is Finally Caught After One Week of Its Escape: ‘Shouldn’t Have Let Him Watch Madagascar’

“I’ll be here all week. In fact, I’ll be here my entire life”

There are all kinds of amazing animals that go viral for their feats, tricks, and out-of-the-ordinary skills. Doing something out of the ordinary is precisely what this zebra did in Tennessee, as it went viral after more than a week on the run, but in the end, the experts managed to capture it. The grasslands in the USA are not exactly the best place for a zebra to have a perfect life, but at least it looks like this one has a great life away from Africa and even further away from all lion packs and other predators..

Runaway pet Zebra that’s been loose for a week; finally caught in Tennessee

The video from cbsmornings went viral for showing “Ed,” the pet zebra, running free in the grasslands of Tennessee, well, in the last few shots as the professionals prepared to finally capture him. But that’s Ed; he didn’t decide to take a scenic route through the neighborhoods and rural areas of the USA. He had already been enjoying his newfound freedom for a little over a week. Although many may find it strange that this zebra would give so much for his capture despite not being in his ecosystem, the truth is that he enjoyed the delicacies of the local grass. The video shows how those in charge of the entire strategy to stop this zebra had to resort to trapping Ed with a net and transporting him by helicopter to an animal trailer.

After this successful operation, memes of Ed eating at local restaurants, such as Waffle House, and visiting iconic landmarks flooded the internet. As well as hilarious comments on social networks similar to these:

Shouldn’t have let him watch Madagascar…

Of course, we can’t forget one of the classics of animated cinema and the crazy zebra Marti, who escaped from the zoo to stroll through the New York subway.

“AND I WOULD DO AGAIN!” yelled the Zebra

It remains a mystery what happened to Ed next, who exactly owns this zebra, and how he managed to escape from wherever he was living. That said, it doesn’t seem to be the best thing for Ed to return as a simple pet zebra; being an exotic animal, it requires a lot of special care to survive. Let’s hope the authorities are also aware of Ed’s living conditions and that he may have a long and happy life. Who knows, maybe he will have a pasture just for himself.
